New Google Previews not so good for Paid ads on the right.

I posted about this new change to Google a few weeks ago, For anyone who has not seen Google has rolled out this feature in most markets, this one will probably have a big impact for websites which are 1. Slow to load 2. Heavy on advertising above the fold. One thing I think is also crazy with this new change is that these new units cover the whole right column of paid ads.

* After rolling over first News Results listing…

* Think this will even drive more emphasis to be the top 3 as spots.

Google Maps Change for Organic Listings

Google has made some interesting changes to their maps listings, this will see the map listing moved to the right and organic listings moved to the center. This removes the old 10 pack listings which were used previously. This change is an interesting one and I am sure it will have an impact for websites traffic, especially paid search listings on the left of the page they will see a large drop in traffic also with only 2 organic listings now on location pages these will also suffer traffic drops, this just emphasizes the fact for a strong Google local strategy.

New Myspace Layout rolls out today!

Myspace has released a new layout today which will see the website fight back against strong competition from market leaders such as Facebook and Twitter, which have been dominating the market for the last 2 years. Myspace once has dominance and pretty much owned the social media space before the new players came into the market.

Check out the video below of the new changes to Myspace –

Do you think the new strategy will work?

BP.com bad press = CRAZY LINK JUICE

As we all know BP has been under some strife recently due to their massive oil spill.

Well pretty much every PR company, News site and random blog in the world and news source has linked back to the BP website, the bad thing is that these links are from negative sources. The good point is that this is one crazy amotun of LINK JUICE for BP.

Coca Cola Australia using Foursquare

Coca Cola Australia using Foursquare

I noticed that Coca Cola Australia has recently set up a Foursquare compentition.
Basically what this competition involves is:

1. Adding the coke machine fairy to Foursquare as a friend, then they will send you clues
to your mobile about where the Coke fairy is heading.

2. The coke faily will then place a winning bottle in the machine each day.

3. Be number one to get to that machine then you will recieve a prize.

4. Shout out that you are their with the winning bottle then the fairy will arrive with a prize.

At the moment we are half way into September and I see only 682 friends on the page, I guess the user rates in Sydney are not crazy for Foursquare yet I would have expected a few more.
